Once Your Yellow Page Ad or Website Brings Customers In, Make Purchasing Easy for Them

Posted in Internet marketing specialist on May 9th, 2012 by admin

Smooth Out Customer Choice Points

Developing a trusting customer relationship is a process. And sales seldom happen without trust. A relationship builds as a sequence of steps follow one another. Whether contact occurs in a single encounter or over time, each step is riddled with choices. As the sales process goes along, customers have to be willing to take another step – to make further commitments (however small) of their time and attention.

When customers already trust you and are interested in what you’re offering, they’ll take the next step without hesitation. However, if they’re unsure about you (or had a prior negative experience), they’ll want to think about it – and just maybe that’s when they realize they aren’t all that interested after all.

Each buyer choice point actually ups the ante. On some unstated level, buyers know they’re committing to the next step, bringing the transaction closer to happening. These steps get riskier (for you as well as them) whenever you specifically ask them to do something more.

Choice points are precisely the places you’re most likely to lose them – when they bail out of the process.

Kinds of buyer choice points – Come into the store – Read the ad beyond the headlines – Listen to this audio tape – Visit the website – Pick up the phone and call – Try it for 30 days without obligation – Take a test drive; check out the product – Write the check – Negotiate the monthly payments for a purchase – Present their credit card

Sour notes that creep into the experience can break the inevitability of them taking the next step. These interaction points represent higher risk to sellers, because that’s when buyers are is most likely to reconsider or flee.

Anything that breaks the steadily building momentum puts the sale at risk. And just because the deal’s complete, don’t relax. There are always plenty of reasons why a person changes her mind and wants out (or returns the product) afterwards.

That’s why even free offers can be a hard sell. A person has to think about whether it’s worth the effort or inconvenience to try or assess something new. Whether it’s worth changing their existing preferences to consider what you’re offering.

Reduce Obstacles that Make Customers Walk Away

Imagine a typical sales process that takes eight-steps, from the time the person steps into the store

(or website) looking for a particular product, until she walks out with it. What percentage of your potential buyers taking the first step make it through to the last one? If you want them to complete the whole sequence, it’s critical their entire experience moves as smoothly as possible.

Identify each place where your procedures impose upon customers. (Who cares if the competition does it, too! Solving the “glitch” gives you an advantage, while showing respect for buyers.) Do they add extra aggravations or increases the likelihood of them walking away? What could be done to make interaction points less risky or annoying? Become obsessive about getting them so smooth and trouble-free that they’re hardly noticeable at all.

Assess each obstacle/choice point you’ve got built into the buying and paying process. These are the exact places where you’re losing customers – and sales. When customers can’t get the help needed, can’t find the product in the model or size wanted, can’t navigate through the check-out without mishap, she’s likely to stop midstream.

Let’s assume that she gets all the way through and completes the purchase, despite the obstacles. What are the odds she’ll be in a hurry to come back?

Online, seventy to ninety percent of those who start to make a purchase don’t complete the process (abandoned shopping carts, etc.). These were people motivated enough to attempt to buy, and gave up. It’s unlikely that figures are anywhere near that high in retail situations, but they’re still much higher than they need to be. Anything that cuts customer bail-out goes straight to the bottom line.

Keeping Customers is Much Easier than Getting New Ones

Yellow Pages ads are primarily a tool for acquiring new customers (your “unknown” market). And a business needs to do that routinely. But with all the effort spent finding more business, it’s easy to forget that getting buyers to come in is easy compared to building a long-term relationship with the ones you have (your “known” market). That’s at the heart of repeat business. As you eliminate the aggravations of doing business with you, you’ll see more of that.

Determining Your Target Market

Posted in Internet marketing specialist on May 8th, 2012 by admin

When you want to market your products or services, the first thing you need to do is to determine your target market. Once target market is determined, you can then use the four P in marketing to decide how to approach your target market. The Four P referred here is product, price, place (distribution) and promotion.

So, why is target market important? The main reason is that company exists for a reason. It needs to differentiate itself from competition in order to survive. For example if you have decided to sell bottled water to the general mass in the urban area, then good luck with that. In the US, Pepsi and Coke has widespread distribution of bottled water consumption through its Aquafina and Dasani brand. If you still insists on selling bottled water, then you need to narrow your target market.

For example, instead of selling to the general mass, your target market for the bottled water can be physically active individuals who avoids thirst quenchers such as Gatorade when they exercise. Once you identify this target market, you would then use the four P to differentiate yourself from regular bottled water. For example, in terms of place (distribution), you can avoid places such as fast food restaurants or lounges. Statistically, people who are exercising, seldom visit these places. You would then concentrate your distribution on places such as the school’s sporting facility.

While choosing your target market seems trivial, it will cost you a lot of marketing dollars if done incorrectly. Let’s assume that you do not decide what your target market is and you are now using the four P in marketing to market your product. You would then distribute your bottled water to places such as convenience stores, gas stations and the shopping mall. Will you capture audiences who are physically more active than the population? Yes, you will. But, the percentage of that audience is small compared to if you focus your distribution on that target market. As a result, you spend large amount of money to capture a small portion of the

audience. Worse still, big companies such as Pepsi and Coke are now aware that you are invading their turf. The next thing they’ll do is to bombard the mass media with advertisement and price cut to make your products invisible. If they do it long enough, your survival may be in question. Therefore, choosing your target market is really important before marketing your products.

In the online world, you need to choose your target market too. Once you choose your target market, the four P should reflect this decision. For example, if your target market is individuals who are looking for ways to invest their money, you should not advertise in general audience such as CNN. Your marketing budget will be more effective if you spend your money in financial website such as Yahoo! Finance or The Motley Fool.

Same thing with your distribution channel. If you distribute your content to the general article directory, you will get loads of visitors who may not be interested in your products or services. Furthermore, as discussed earlier, it might attract your bigger competitors thinking that you are trying to take away their lunch. If your bigger competitors are not inept, they will then react accordingly and launch offensive campaigns that will render your marketing campaign useless.

Fortunately, nowadays, there are plenty of niche article directories allowing marketers to publish articles of certain field. Thus, smaller publishers can gain more visibility as niche directories generally have less people submitting their contents. Furthermore, larger competitors are reluctant to publish their contents there. The reason is that they have a larger cost overhead. Focusing on small target market will not do them any good. It is their loss. But you, my friend, should not miss this opportunity. It is one of the most efficient way of using your marketing dollars.

Is Your Website a Hammer?

Posted in Internet marketing specialist on May 6th, 2012 by admin

Could you imagine building an entire house with just one tool like a hammer? Yes, I’m serious, no other tools, just a hammer. How long would it take you to build a house with just a hammer? What would this house look like?

Now imagine your website is a hammer. Would you build your entire business using just this one tool? Many people put up a website and expect the world to come clamoring to their door to buy products or services. Major disappointment sets in when results are not immediate. A website is an extension of your business and takes time to evolve and get discovered by your ideal clients. Your website is one of many tools in your marketing tool box. Here are a few affordable, do-it-now marketing tools to get you excited about promoting your website.

AUTO ID PLATES

How often are you stuck in traffic and end up staring at the license plate in front of you? This is the perfect place to discreetly display your web site address. If you have a short slogan or tagline, it can be placed on top with your web site address on the bottom. This is a more random marketing approach and similar to the magnetic car signs. Have you ever searched for a pen and paper while trying to memorize the magnetic sign on the truck for handyman services, plumbing or hardwood flooring? The person in the vehicle behind you could be your next customer.

CD BUSINESS CARDS

Some of the best and most unique marketing tools for business are CD Business Cards. These are the size of a credit card and look like a miniature CD. The first thing I thought was, “Do I put this in my CD/ROM drive and does it work?” Sure enough! It fits neatly into the inside circle of a CD/ROM drive. It can hold about 50 Megs of multimedia information about your company or products and plays in less than three minutes. If the customer is online when viewing the CD, they can click on links and be taken to your web site. It’s unlikely

that anyone would toss this business card into the trash. They come in all shapes and sizes for less than $1.00 each.

LABELS

Use labels with your web site address and catchy slogan to seal your correspondence. This is one more way to flash your web site address in front of a potential customer. I recently purchased some artwork at a craft fair. Luckily the artist had placed a label on the back of the picture so I could go to the website and order more artwork for friends. Without that label she would have missed out on some sales after the craft fair was over. Create your own labels for wine bottles to give as gifts. Lots of fun ideas at online websites to spark your creativity.

WEB POSTCARDS

Did you know that a large percentage of new business comes from referrals? How often do you stay in touch with your clients? At a minimum, quarterly correspondence will keep you fresh in their minds. Several online companies offer full color postcards, business cards, bookmarks and note cards of your business web site. They take a picture of your Home page and you can insert your text message. A proof is emailed to you to edit or accept. Web PostCards are great for direct mail campaigns or to hand out at trade shows. Got a new web site? Tell everyone about it with Web PostCards. Bigger than a business card, your prospect is more likely to place the card by the computer and look up your web site. Web PostCards are rarely discarded and frequently passed on to other potential clients. Free samples are mailed to you by request by most companies.

Have fun with these and will you please send me an email about your other creative marketing ideas? Remember, if you’re not promoting your site – who is?

Do you have what it takes

Posted in Internet marketing specialist on May 6th, 2012 by admin

Network Marketing feels like the hardest thing I have ever done.

It takes so much time to build up a presence on the interenet. (damn, I spelled internet wrong). It takes long hours and is a true test to a person’s patience. Every moment that I am in it and not making money at it, it hurts just a little bit more. On most days I can see past the disappointing downline creation but on others I cannot. Those guys that are making all the big bucks are just smatter and better than I am. There seems to be so much to do I just can’t keep up. I don’t know anything about internet code nor do I have anymore money to spend on these lowsy (probably spelled that wrong) businesses and programs. Everybody is getting rich but me. Giving up seems inevitable.

Does this sound like you. It sure sounds like me every now and again. These are the thoughts that destroy hopes, dreams and the future you know you can achieve. Not to mention it is down right depressing.

Life is full of challenges. That is what life is supposed to be about. Life is supposed to be about growth and the only way to grow is to enconter (spelled that word wrong too) conflict. I say supposed because so many people get caught up in their personal comfort zones which stunts growth. You need to constantly push yourself. Do the hard thing. An average person lives an average life

because they do average things. I want an extraordinary life. How do you get an extraordinary life?

You become unreasonable. Unreasonable people are the ones who break and redefine rules. It’s unreasonable for a man to spend over 20 years in prison for a crime he did not commit only to come out of jail and instead of hating the people that imprisoned him used it as an opportunity to bring his country together. That man was Nelson Mandela. They don’t yield to frustration. They are the ones that lead us. Success takes time. Alicia Keys once said “Her over night success was 12 years in the making.” Can you hold out for 12 years to finally reach the life you know you deserve?. Do you have what it takes?

Well I will tell you this. It won’t take 12 years. With the right plan it can take take 12 minutes start on the right track your ultimate life. No matter how hard you run you can’t run west looking for the north pole. You need the right map. We’ve got the map. The same thing we did to achieve our goals is the same thing you need to achieve yours. Even though our goals may differ, the path remains the same.

Why don’t you take your first step into the right path?

Using banner advertising to promote your website

Posted in Internet marketing specialist on May 4th, 2012 by admin

Since 1994, when banner advertising first appeared on the internet, there has been a considerable increase in its use in online marketing. Anyone who is serious about online advertising should learn more about using banner advertising as an integral part of their website marketing plan.

A web banner advertising campaign will display an advertisement thousands of times to targeted visitors of other websites and is an effective form of website promotion. Banner advertising is a great way to promote a website and is a form of advertising that exposes an internet advertising banner in a prominent location on relevant websites.

Web banner advertising is an excellent way to promote brand awareness, increase visitor traffic and generate sales. It is the equivalent of newspaper or magazine advertising in the online world. Banners are often animated to capture the attention of the visitor, and can display a variety of images and information including a company logo. An internet advertising banner can be linked to a specific page of a website that is relevant to the products or services being advertised, this will enable a visitor to click through to a web page and immediately view further information and purchase the products or services.

The success of an internet advertising banner depends on how effectively it is designed and the creativity used in the banner. The objective is to create a design that grabs the attention of visitors. This can be achieved by using a good combination of colors, some form of animation and a catchy strap line. Animated banners are a great way to catch the eye of potential customers. Flash banners in particular can have very rich animated content with a very small file size.

The success of the banner design can be measured by the number of visitors that click through to the target web page. Normally an internet advertising banner that offers some sort of incentive to the visitor will achieve a higher click through rate.

Banner sizes are measured in pixels, the most popular banner size is 468×60. However there are many different sizes and shapes available

and an effective online banner advertising campaign should contain a mix of these. Skyscrapers in particular can be very effective as they are displayed down the side of a web page and therefore stay in view for longer as the user scrolls down the page. An ideal mix of sizes for a campaign would be as follows:

Banners (468×60)

Leaderboards (728×90)

Skyscrapers (120×600)

Rectangles (300×250)

Costs for banner advertising campaigns vary widely, according to the required targeting options, the size of banners used and the volume of inventory purchased. Web banner advertising campaigns can be purchased on either a CPM basis (cost per thousand impressions) or on a CPC basis (cost per click).

Purchasing a banner advertising campaign on a cost per click basis is the most sensible option for a company that has no previous experience of this type of advertising. This will enable a fixed budget to be agreed for a guaranteed number of clicks and the publishing network take the risk of displaying the banner (impressions) as many times as required to ensure the agreed number of clicks are achieved. However if a company has previous experience of this type of advertising and has achieved a high click through rate for previous campaigns, then it may be more cost effective to purchase the inventory on a CPM basis.

Online banner advertising campaigns can be set up to target specific countries, regions such as Europe or even Worldwide. Demographic targeting options are also available to fit the target audience for specific products or services. There are many different publishing networks to choose from and each network offers varying levels of geographic, demographic and behavioral targeting.

Web banner advertising is highly measurable and reports can be generated to track the number of impressions served, click through rates and sales conversion rates. Reliable campaign statistics can provide a wide range of information that can be used to improve the response rate for future internet advertising banner campaigns.

As a form of website promotion, online banner advertising is cost effective and compares favorably with other forms of online advertising such as search engine pay per click campaigns.

Building Real Customer Relationships with Custom Social Network Sites

Posted in Internet marketing specialist on May 4th, 2012 by admin

Many decry the loss of community, suggesting we’ve all lost touch with each other in a world of cell phones, video games, and other electronically based distractions; in reality, though, community is more important now than ever. People still seek the security and understanding inherent in close communities. What has changed is the appearance: instead of reaching out over the fence or sitting around a table, we reach out over continents and time zones. Our “neighbors” may be a world away, but the concept of community is still strong as evidenced by the rise of social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. Instead of being connected by geography, millions are linked by interests, profession, and other defining factors.

Social Networks Are Less Confining Than Ever

The social networking site phenomenon also extends to businesses and marketing, specifically how businesses can build their brand without selling. These sites, which have been used with tremendous success, are based on a small business model. Small businesses typically cannot afford expensive television ads and aggressive marketing campaigns. Instead, they rely on word of mouth, repeat customers, customer referrals, and the like. Custom social networking sites do much the same thing for businesses of any size and have become one of the most effective brand marketing tools in the industry.

Why Custom Social Networking?

The goal of custom SNS is to build relationships. While it is true that the ultimate goal of any business is to sell a product or service, the objective of unique social networks is to establish a relationship between customers and the brand, and even between customer and customer. In other words, the goal here is not to sell. Through a custom social network, a company appeals to the sense of community that may tie their target audience together. By taking their interests to heart and by providing a resource through which consumers may communicate, a relationship – and trust – is founded. A by-product of that trust is sales. But again, the key to efficacy is focusing on community, not selling.

Existing social networks have been used by companies, especially nonprofits, to reach out to targeted consumer bases. A nonprofit, for instance, may have a profile on a popular SNS in order to encourage volunteers, raise support for a particular cause, or raise

funds. The difference is that custom SNS are built by an organization specifically for the purpose of allowing their targeted audiences to communicate. These SNS are designed for a particular organization based on key factors, such as profession, age, or shared interests. Developing a successful unique social network is predicated upon knowing your audience, being willing to know them further, and motivating them to share their thoughts, feelings, and opinions.

What do custom social networking sites allow consumers to do? It, of course, depends on the site, but they should allow individuals to post text, images, audio, video, join existing communities on the site, and create their own. They should be designed around the organization’s particular niche, and above all, should be audience-based. To do this, various options are available, including wikis, blogs, RSS feeds, polls, ratings, forums, widgets, chat, message boards, friendly interface, and much more. To develop the most user-friendly, interactive, and effective SNS, it is crucial that consumers have access to the tools they want and need. They need to both be able to take from the site and to give back to it. This is the essence of community.

The advantages of developing a custom social networking site are myriad but the key benefit is that businesses can reach out the community in a way that allows the community to reach back. A relationship is developed, and the trust that we normally see with neighborhood mom and pops can be built by Fortune 500 companies or small start-ups.

The concept of community is fundamentally unchanged. We still search for connections – though those connections may be thousands of miles away. Building a brand through custom social networks benefits both the organization and the consumer because all are given a place and a voice. A faceless company can no longer expect to thrive in today’s business atmosphere; by creating a unique SNS, you give your organization – and your consumers – a face.

Simple Ways to Generate Good Income With Adsense

Posted in Internet marketing specialist on May 2nd, 2012 by admin

Google Adsense is quite different. It is the number of visitors that actually click on the advertising that determine how much you earn. There is also a great disparity between payouts, because advertisers bid up the price for certain keywords, some ads pay more than others. As such, a site with few visitors but expensive keywords in their Google ads can potentially still pull in a hefty payout.

Google really has taken the web by storm, attracted to passive income, more and more people are seriously capitalizing on their Google adsense advertising. Some of the highest earners manage to attract enough visitors to make a four figure monthly income, just from using adsense alone! This is not one of those get rich quick schemes and Google adsense success is largely thanks to the fact that Google already enjoyed a fantastic reputation before introducing the program. They are a publicly traded company with physical headquarters. This, and the fact that anyone can apply to use adsense for free, has caused millions of people to sign up. For Google it was a smart move, because now they extend their presence to countless websites and generate millions of dollars in advertising revenue. People were never reluctant to sign up, because the program is free. Google benefits by more people using adsense, so offering it for free was the best thing they could do.

One of the driving forces behind the program is its relevance to each and every page on a website, the program picks up keywords appearing in the website copy and automatically displays

relevant ads. This increases the chances of people clicking through, and the webmaster collecting more revenue.

People are leveraging their income by operating several websites and attempting to attract as many targeted visitors as possible, in many instances we can observe that people work hard at a site, then once it is established they can largely leave it alone, yet still collect significant checks.

A major concern for entrepreneurs was the danger of a competitors ads showing up on their site, thanks to the adsense feature where it only displays relevant advertising. However this problem was solved by offering webmasters the option of filtering out unwanted ads. They can submit the URL of the competing site in their account, and any ads from the website will be blocked.

Google recently came out with a new feature. Some small targeted keywords based on the sites content are displayed, then as people click on those, a page opens showing a variety of pay per click ads based on that keyword. This gives webmasters the chance of displaying more advertising in less space.

Adsense also adds creditability to your website, the more focused the content, the better the ads will be and this encourages people to built high quality websites. These make the net a better place and generally provide a free service, site owners can afford to share their expertise or passions because they can receive indirect revenues. The visitor does not pay for the information, instead the advertisers do, making the websites existence possible in the first place.

Easy Way To Track Your Google AdSense Earnings

Posted in Internet marketing specialist on May 1st, 2012 by admin

Adsense is something with which some website owners have had smashing success, others very little. Website owners who have done well with Adsense and are seeing good revenues are those who have become adept at tracking the performance of their campaign and use this information to fine tune their campaigns to increase click through rates. Tracking and testing is what Adsense is meant for and should be used to maximize your advertising campaign’s potential. The first step here is to track clicks to determine how your ads are performing for you. For more details go to www.adsense-dollar-factory.com. The Adsense tracker (it’s free!) lets you get detailed information about the clicks your ad has received. This information displays in your stats as soon as the necessary JavaScript has been placed on your site. You should keep an eye on your statistics and evaluate how each is doing for you on each page. Some pages will no doubt do better than others – try to figure out what the common element is to your highest performing pages. The content, graphics and keywords are all factors in the performance of your WebPages. Use these winning elements and track your stats to find out if these changes have worked for you. Adsense offers advertisers a lot of options for their ads. Nearly everything about the ad can be changed, including size, shape and color, which can also increase your click through rate. If you are still not doing well after making changes here, it may be time to back

to the drawing board and make all new ads. The ads which will do the best for the web are ads which mesh well with the rest of the page, e.g. the content. Make your ads fit in with the look of your site; you can test these designs with Adsense by watching your statistics. Search engine optimization is another element which Adsense tracking and testing can help with. Your keywords and their ranking matter. Competition is also something to watch out for – if there are a lot of competitors out there using the same keywords then these popular keywords may not be the best investment for you in terms of traffic. Using niche keywords may be a better idea; these are keywords which are popular, yet not used by everyone out there. To know more about it login to www.adsense-income-exposed.com. These words also are more tightly focused on a market which helps you stand out from the competition and attract customers who are more likely to make a purchase. You can also see higher profits from Adsense by using niche keywords than with more popular keywords. You can find free tools, as well as paid services which can help you find niche keywords which will work for your site. Whichever way you choose your words to begin with, use Adsense to watch your statistics for views and clicks to see which bring in the most results for your site. Tracking your statistics is the key to success with Adsense.

7 Tricks for More Holiday Web Sales

Posted in Internet marketing specialist on April 30th, 2012 by admin

“Black Friday” has just passed, marking the traditional start of the holiday shopping season. Web sales are already at a record high this year and the fourth quarter of 2004 is projected to bring in $22 billion in online sales alone – a whole third of the sales for the entire year. (Source: eMarketer.com)

And since Friday, your in-box has been overflowing with all those new orders… right?

Or maybe not.

If you’re like many small retailers, you’ve waited until the last minute to start thinking about your online holiday sales. You’ve been too busy, too short-staffed, too distracted, or perhaps even too confused to take the necessary steps to get your Web site ship-shape for the holidays.

Don’t despair! you can still take advantage of the holiday sales season ifyou take immediate action.

Here are seven things you can do RIGHT NOW to boost your online holiday sales this year.

1. “Hello, is anybody home?”

Update your Web site. If your home page still boasts “Summer Specials,” this means you! Put photos of your best sellers out front, and highlight any holiday specials.

2. Use the power of suggestion.

Make it easy for shoppers to figure out what to buy. Try adding a “Great Gift Ideas” list on your home page with links to each product. Better yet, organize the list into categories: “Gifts Under $20,” “Stocking Stuffers,” “Gifts for Kids,” “Gifts for Him/Her,” etc.

3. Bundle it.

Combine popular items into a “gift set” that shoppers can add to their carts with one click. Package them together in an attractive gift box or basket. Be sure to display a photo of the gift packaging.

4. Sell the gift that always fits.

Offer gift certificates for the shopper that isn’t sure what to buy, or who needs a last-minute gift. TIP: Make sure your shopping cart ships gift certificates free.

5. Wrap it up.

Offer to wrap and ship a gift directly to the recipient for a small

fee. You’ll earn loyalty from your customers if you can help them out during a busy, stressful time.

6. “Will it get there on time?”

Concerns about delivery are at the top of Web shoppers’ lists. Overcome their uncertainty by posting information about shipping times, order cut-off dates for holiday delivery, and express delivery options in a conspicuous place.

7. SHOUT!

NOW is the time to toot your own horn and help people remember that your products and services make great gifts. Email the folks on your mailing list at least once a week until the end of the holiday season. Pick a different gift product to feature with each email, and be sure to include a direct link to the product page. Also, work the phones. Don’t be afraid to be low-tech! Pick up the phone and call your 10 best customers to let them know about your great holiday deals.

Although there are lots of things you can do to jumpstart your online holiday sales, there’s one thing you *shouldn’t* do right now.

DON’T try to give your web site or e-commerce system a major overhaul during the peak season. The last thing you and your customers need is to deal with echnical glitches or lost orders during the holiday crunch. If you’re panning a major upgrade, wait until January when things are a little slower and there will be minimal disruption to your customers.
